Recently a social media influencer who goes by the name of Kita Rose touched off a firestorm with her commentary concerning modern realionship dynamics within the Black Community. During a live taping of Houston’s “Tonight’s Conversation” series, she made some remarks about men who she views as spiteful. in reference to men declining to enter into relationships with women (or the type of women) who rejected their advances in days past in favor of seeing older, more prosperous men.

While this may be a very sensitive subject, one has consider both sides of the issue. On one hand the woman in question could have turned to an older man with money as a means of suvival in an inner city enviornment. Perhaps she could have been raised with a misguided notion of needing to monetize her youth by her female elders. But on the other hand the sensibilities of men must also be considered. It’s highly doubtful that many men would desire the prospects of trying woo a woman who rejected them in thier formative years. There’s also a logical suspicion that if this same woman (or type of woman) didn’t want to be with him because of money and material things, then wouldn’t she leave him during hard times?

Some might argue that what Kita said was meant to be a gaslight to cause men to question their own desires and power to choose who to partner with. It seems as if she is attempting to create an open ended enviornment in which there are no consequences for women’s past choices; while men are tasked with picking up the pieces and soothing the pain of trauma stemming from relationships that these women chose.
